(ForEveryMom) #CancelNetflix is trending on social media this week following the promotion and release of a French coming-of-age film, “Cuties.”
Prior to its September 9th release on the streaming platform, “Cuties” was being promoted in the U.S. with the following teaser synopsis:
“Amy, 11, becomes fascinated with a twerking dance crew. Hoping to join them, she starts to explore her femininity, defying her family’s traditions.”
The description, which has since been removed by Netflix, was accompanied by a movie poster that hyper-sexualized the film’s young cast.
