About Christian News Now

Christian News Now is for the thinking Christian who is seeking truth by prayerfully considering varied perspectives and asking God for wisdom.

We created Christian News Now because we believe truth is powerful. Jesus said that we would know the truth and the truth would set us free. But what is truth in the news? Is it truth as only conservatives define it or as only liberals define it? Or is there truth on both sides and from the centrist viewpoint as well?

Christian News Now believes that truth is defined in one place and one place only—the Word of God. In our fallen state, humans can approach truth from multiple views and arrive at very different opinions. At Christian News Now, we believe there is something for thinking Christians to learn from everyone as we listen thoughtfully.

Thinking Christians Leading in Civil Discourse

Tragically, our culture seems to have lost the ability to have civil discourse. Social media conversations reveal that we have lost the art of listening to differing opinions. Often the goal is to argue for a certain point. At Christian News Now, we believe there’s a better way.

The Bible says this: “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.”

Quick to listen.

Slow to speak.

And slow to become angry.

We believe these three steps would change our national discourse. Understanding varying views matters. Not agreeing, but understanding.

Not only that, we believe that thinking Christians changing the conversation is critical for the sake of the gospel. We have been called to the ministry of reconciliation and that ministry requires an understanding of how people we desire to reach believe and think. Christian News Now exists to enable thinking Christians to learn about multiple views around an issue so you can engage in the ministry of reconciliation through civil discourse.

We have seen the power of civil discourse turn a conversation, open hearts, and represent our Christian faith well. We have seen the power of a gentle answer dissolving anger. Seeking to understand why people think the way they do enables all of us to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger.

Thinking Christians Responding to the News

We understand that the news can be maddening. We also know that as Christians the news moves us to grief and empathy. The news breaks our hearts for sin in the world and reminds us of what Jesus did for us on the Cross and what He had to pay for us to have a relationship with Him.

The news can also fill our hearts with hope as it informs us of what God is doing throughout the world. And the news can move us to prayer for persecuted believers, governments and countries, and churches and church leadership.

These are troubled times. Just reading the daily news affirms that.

More than ever, thinking Christians need to have wisdom. We need to be like the men of Issachar in 1 Chronicles 12:32 who “understood the times and knew what Israel should do.”

May God make us thinking Christians who have wisdom to understand the times and know what to do.
