‘They Are Not Alone’: First Lady Jill Biden Makes Impromptu Visit to Ukraine on Mother’s Day

(Christian Headlines) On Sunday, which was Mother’s Day, First Lady Jill Biden made an unannounced visit to Ukraine to express her support for the Ukrainian people amid the war with Russia.

According to Reuters, Biden visited a school temporarily serving as a shelter and met with Ukraine’s first lady, Olena Zelenska. So far, the school-turned-shelter is housing about 163 displaced Ukrainians, including 47 children.

“This Mother’s Day, I wanted to be with Ukrainian mothers and their children,” Biden tweeted. “Over the last few months, far too many Ukrainians have had to flee their homes – forcing them to leave behind their loved ones.”
