(Christian Headlines) Grammy-award-winning pop megastar Mariah Carey is rejecting the moniker “Queen of Christmas,” saying that it belongs to Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ.
Carey, whose career spans over three decades, received the Recording Industry Association of America Diamond Award earlier this month for her hit single, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which has become a Christmas staple since its 1994 release.
It was through that song that Carey would be dubbed the “Queen of Christmas.” But in a recent interview with The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2, Carey noted that she did not give herself the festive moniker and does not consider herself the “Queen of Christmas.”
