Outspoken Christian Clayton Kershaw Finally Becomes World Series Champion
Clayton Kershaw has been with the Los Angeles Dodgers for his entire thirteen year career, a statistic that is rare in major league sports today. Kershaw was the Dodgers seventh pick in the 2006 draft. The 32-year-old has won three CY Young awards (2011, 2013, 2014) and was named MLB MVP in 2004.
Kershaw gave his testimony in an I Am Second film. He said, “Its about the legacy you leave off the field. It’s about how many people I can affect with the platform that He gave me.”
During an interview with Fellowship of Christian Athletes Magazine, Kershaw said, “I didn’t do anything to deserve this gift. God gave me an ability to throw a baseball. He chose me for a reason, and I want to honor Him with that. You can’t control the talents He gives you, no doubt about that. But you can control the effort you put forth with those talents.”
Colossians 3:23 is the only thing listed in his Twitter bio. The Bible verse reads, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”
