(The Daily Citizen) The House of Representatives has passed a spending bill that does not include the Hyde Amendment, which prevents taxpayer funds from paying for abortions.
In a vote of 219-208, the House majority voted to approve H.R. 4502, which is a bill that includes funding for Labor, Health and Human Services, Educations (LHHS) Appropriations Act and Financial Services and General Government.
In addition to removing the Hyde Amendment and the Weldon Amendment, which protects health care workers from being forced to engage in abortion procedures, it also forces those taking Title X funding to offer three things after a positive pregnancy test, (1) prenatal care and delivery; (2) infant care, foster care, and adoption; and (3) abortion/abortion referral.
Though the bill passed the House, thankfully, it faces a tough fight in the Senate.
