(Christian Headlines) Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), is facing calls to resign after newly released documents allege that the National Institute of Health (NIH) funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, fueling further speculation regarding the origins of the novel coronavirus.
The report, which was over 900 pages long, was published by The Interceptafter the outlet obtained it through a Freedom of Information Act request. According to the report, the NIH issued a “bat coronavirus grant” to EcoHealth Alliance, a U.S.-based health organization, for “$3.1 million, including $599,000 that the Wuhan Institute of Virology, used in part to identify and alter bat coronaviruses likely to infect humans.”
Richard Ebright, a molecular biologist at Rutgers University, further discussed the report’s findings in a Twitter thread on Monday.
