Doctors Warn of ‘COVID Toes’ — New Coronavirus Symptom Popping Up in Children and Teens

(ForEveryMom) The novel coronavirus has infected more than 2.6 million people worldwide, and doctors are warning this week of a new COVID-19 symptom for parents to be on the lookout for.

Dermatologists nationwide have begun to see an influx of patients with what they’re calling “COVID toes.” The condition is an inflammation of blood vessels in the feet that is characterized by blistering, pustules, scabs and ulceration.

“This is a manifestation that occurs early on in the disease, meaning you have this first, then you progress,” Dr. Ebbing Lautenbach, chief of infectious disease at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Medicine told USA Today.“ Sometimes this might be your first clue that they have COVID when they don’t have any other symptoms.”
