(FaithWire) The retail giant Amazon is reportedly barring the publisher of a forthcoming book critical of transgender ideology from purchasing ads to promote the new title.
Regnery Publishing, a right-leaning company based in Washington, D.C., is printing journalist Abigail Shrier’s book, “Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Girls,” set to release June 30. In a series of tweets posted over the weekend, Regnery announced it was “not even allowed” to place a bid for “sponsored” ad space.
After seeing the tweets from the publishing house, I searched the word “transgender” in the “books” section of Amazon’s website. To the retailer’s credit, Shrier’s new book was the third result, following a collection of pro-LGBT books in recognition of “Pride” month and a “sponsored” ad for conservative writer Ben Shapiro’s 2019 book, “Facts Don’t Care About Your Feelings.” The placement of Shrier’s book, though, is entirely organic, not the result of a paid elevation.
