(Yahoo) The calls for more LGBTQ+ representation in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe have been answered. A Disney+ promo for the new Loki series revealed the God of Mischief is gender fluid, carrying on an important aspect of his identity that was present in the original comics.
As ComicBook.com reported, viewers could have missed the barrier-breaking detail. The preview shows it quickly on Loki’s Time Variance Authority (TVA) file, visible toward the end of the clip. If you look closely, you’ll notice Loki’s sex is labeled ‘Fluid’.
Years of speculation makes this confirmation no surprise for Marvel’s comic book fans. The 2014 comic, Loki: Agent of Asgard hinted at the God of Mischief’s non-binary identity when their father, Odin, referred to Loki as his “son” and “daughter.” The shapeshifter even appeared further back in 2008’s Thor: Volume 3 comic as ‘Lady Loki’ after taking over a human body.
